Women join our community through a process called recruitment, which allows you to find your home on campus. There are two ways you can participate in recruitment:
This process every September allows women to see the 11 chapters participating in a structured process. This allows for a variety of options and seeing many chapters in a shorter period of time.
Stay tuned for more information regarding 2020 Formal Recruitment!
For a handful of chapters, this is a process that typically occurs during the first month of the semester. Women have a chance to spend more time at chapters, participating in events planned by the informally recruiting sorority. Past recruitment events include movie nights and ice cream sundae socials. To participate, women should contact chapters individually once the semester starts. An Informal Recruitment Kickoff event is typically held at the beginning of each semester.
DEAR FUTURE PANHELLENIC WOMEN:
Welcome to the University of Minnesota! We are so excited to have you here and look forward to your involvement with the Greek community on campus.
When I started as a first-year student here, I wanted so many things out of my collegiate experience - a challenging but rewarding academic experience, leadership positions, service and volunteering opportunities, skills to bring with me into my career, balance, true friends, and above all else: a place to call home.
When I went through formal recruitment, I saw everything I was looking for and more represented in the Panhellenic community. I was inspired by the genuine connections, support, and dedication to strong values demonstrated by women in each chapter, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
The Panhellenic women at the University of Minnesota shattered my stereotypes about Greek life - among our 14 chapters you’ll find small-business owners, engineers, student government leaders, meme-makers, and more. You’ll talk with women from around the country (and the world) who are passionate about changing it. You’ll see our members who have internships at Fortune 100 companies, or who are doing cutting-edge research with tenured professors. You’ll experience women who are here to empower each other and lift each other up, and who are ready to help you grow and support you exactly as you are.
As you go through recruitment, the best piece of advice I can offer you is this: know who you are and come ready to share it. Keep an open mind and make an effort to get to know the incredible women in our community and the unique values their chapters hold. Find the chapter where you feel most at home. Take time to truly immerse yourself in Panhellenic Life at the University and all that it can offer you.
Joining one of these organizations means joining something bigger than yourself. Through my sorority, I've had the opportunity to be empowered, and empower others through life-long friendships, leadership, academic support, and philanthropy. The Panhellenic community is my home on campus, and I truly hope you can find your home here too.
On behalf of our entire community, we are so excited to meet you!
